Diagnostics Tests

MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)

This is not an x-ray machine as it uses magnetism to form an image of the inside of the body.  An MRI takes between one and two hours, and is done at an x-ray department of the hospital as an outpatient.

CT (Computerized Tomography)

A CT machine uses x-rays to take pictures of the inside of the body.  This procedure takes one to two hours at the x-ray department of the hospital.  You do not need to stay in the hospital for this procedure.

Bone Marrow Biopsy

A needle is placed into the spine to draw out the bone marrow so that it can be tested to see if there are cancerous cells.  This is done at the doctors rooms and the procedure takes 30min and you do not need to stay in the hospital

Blood tests

Blood is drawn in the doctors rooms or pathology unit and sent to the laboratory where they can see if there are any abnormalities.  This procedure takes five minutes.
